Objectives

To develop student’s ability to:

  • apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering by mathematical modeling of manufacturing processes;
  • design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs by specification of processing machinery;
  • function on multi-disciplinary teams through a course project to investigate, analyze, and optimize a process;
  • identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems through open ended systems design;
  • communicate effectively through course project presentation; and
  • identify and understand contemporary issues through analysis of trends in manufacturing competitiveness and labor issues.
